UX Boom - A Research Analysis
A dive into how Technology, Internet, and Users have changed business.
Challenge:
Hone is an innovative startup app that was founded with the noble idea of revolutionizing the online dating industry by creating more profound and genuine connections between people. Unlike other dating apps that mainly focus on physical attraction, Hone intends to provide a platform where users can build meaningful relationships based on shared interests, values, and beliefs. With its unique algorithm and advanced features, Hone helps users find compatible matches and facilitates communication, ultimately leading to more fulfilling and long-lasting relationships.
Process:
We began by brainstorming ideas, analyzing goals and solutions, prioritizing requirements, and creating hand-drawn wireframes, paper prototypes, task analysis, and card sorting to develop the first version of the product prototype.
Discovery:
Focus Group
My team and I spent several hours over a three-day weekend with small groups of users. We conversed with them, asked questions, and listened to their feedback. Some of the answers were even written anonymously. Through this process, we met around 30-40 people and better understood how to improve our original concepts for Hone.
Research Analysis
This user research and preliminary focus group were conducted to gather qualitative data to help us improve the gameplay, identify gaps, and create a more relevant experience for our users. This highlights the importance of conducting user research when developing a product. As a result, our product plan underwent significant changes, and our roadmap became more user-focused.
Our team then gathered in Madison, WI for a transformative weekend that helped us shape the future of our app. We honed our ideas and prototypes to perfection through dedication and hard work.
Accomplishment:
Design of the Graphical User Interface for the Uscore gesture
The design aims to create an engaging and visually appealing user experience for the device's users. The animated graphical user interface is designed to be dynamic and interactive, presenting information and feedback in a way that is both informative and entertaining. The design is carefully crafted to ensure that it is functional, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to use.

Scoring Media With a U-shaped Gesture on the Media Display
With a touch-sensitive device, you can assign scores to electronic media in an intuitive and engaging way. By performing predefined gestures along the U-shaped path, you can determine the score based on where the gesture ends. A scoring cursor moves along the path, providing a visual representation of the score overlaid on the media. Visual cues remind you of the gesture, making the process effortless and natural. This method works on touch or non-touch displays with any input device, making it a versatile and accessible solution.

This was part of a design patent for a novel GUI related to a novel gesture, information related to a utility patent describing a novel gesture, and information related to a novel methodology for rating entities as a whole by rating their parts.
